LAHORE

Senior Provincial Minister Raja Riaz Ahmad has ordered probe into the purchase of three vehicles and cash disbursement of Rs 1970,000 in the Punjab Mineral Development Corporation.

He was presiding over the PUNJMIN Board of Directors meeting. Expressing dissatisfaction on the present contract policy, Raja Riaz issued directions to devise a fool proof system for more jobs for the poor. He also issued directions to expedite existing enquiry of Rs. 13,100,000 against ex-secretary Basharat Ullah.

He ordered regularisation of all the daily wagers from BS-1 to 16 and put up summary for the approval of the chief minister. He ordered ban on inter transfer and creation of further vacancies of GM Monitoring or in BS-19.

All possible measures should be adopted to make the corporation more profitable, he said.

He approved the provision of Rs 20,000 as medical reimbursement for the retired employees.

In the meeting, the budget for 2009-10 for PUNJMIN was also approved. Keeping in view the malpractices of past, the meeting also approved different cuts in the incentives for the chairman, the MD and the secretary. Punjab Mineral Development Corporation managing director Shafqat ur Rehman Ranjha said irreparable loss had been done to the corporation during the last regime and Attock and Mianwali projects had come to a standstill. He said the investigation regarding the matter was in progress and steps were being taken to improve the situation. The provision of new facilities for officers was discussed in detail and important decisions taken in the meeting.
