PPP observes ‘black day’

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) observed “black day” on Tuesday to protest the imposition of emergency in the country on November 3, 2007, by the then-military ruler, Gen. (retd) Pervez Musharraf. PPP ministers, including Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, wore black armbands. Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri termed November 3 as a “black day” in the history of Pakistan, because this was the day when a dictator undermined democracy.
Security guard killed accidentally

A security guard accidentally shot dead on Tuesday a colleague who was deputed at an apartment building, police said. The victim was identified as Riaz. The incident was reported at Rafi Premier Residency, near Safoora Chowk, Gulistan-e-Jauher, within the limits of the Sharea Faisal police station.
Rs50 cut for refunds
Karachi
People who asked for a refund of their tickets were further agitated when the Railway Department started to deduct Rs50 per ticket on the refund. People, realising extended delays, mobbed the ticketing booth demanding refunds of their tickets due the accident. However, the Railways, despite announcing a 100 per cent refund, started deducting Rs50 per ticket. According to one report, 30 per cent of all tickets were refunded. —GA
