LAHORE
ZULFIQAR Ali Bhutto Shaheed and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed were great politicians as well as intellectuals and writers, the chairman of the Pakistan Academy of Letters, has said.
Fakhar Zaman was speaking at a briefing on Monday. He referred to Benazir Bhutto’s books “Daughter of the East”, “Reconciliation: Islam, Democracy, and the West” and her poem on Marvi, saying Benazir was one of country’s major writers and poetesses. Fakhar revealed that in order to highlight literary and intellectual aspects of Benazir’s personality, the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) was working a book “Shaheed Benazir Bhutto: Danishwar Aur Adeeb” (Shaheed Benazir Bhutto: Intellectual and Writer). The book is being written by Khalid Kashmiri.
He said the book focused on Benazir’s literary personality and highlights her intellectual worth. Scholars and critics from all over the world had praised Benazir’s writings and lectures, he said. He praised the present government of the Pakistan People’s Party for supporting writers and intellectuals. He said a new project “Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Shaheed Aik Shair-e-Inqlabi” has been initiated to highlight intellectual and literary works and achievements of the late PPP leader.
