Gangster shot dead in Landikotal

LANDIKOTAL: Ringleader of a gang was shot dead in an exchange of fire during a robbery here late Sunday. Samarqand, reported to be ringleader of a robbers’ gang, along with his accomplices forced into the house of one Mustaqeem in Pirokhel. The robbers tied up the family members and started collecting valuables from cupboards and safe boxes when Akram (14) son of Mustaqeem opened fire from another room, killing Samarqand on the spot. The burglars returned the fire and later fled the scene, leaving all the valuables behind. Samarqand was wanted by the local administration in several cases of car lifting, kidnapping and robberies.



Traders protest seizure of sugar

PESHAWAR: The traders of Khyber Agency protested against the Sarband police on Monday for impounding two trucks, transporting 480 sacks of sugar to the tribal areas.

It was learnt that two trucks were transporting sugar to Khyber Agency when seized by the cops of Sarband police station who lodged a first information report against the drivers and impounded the vehicles.

The traders of the agency protested against the action and demanded of the high ups to take action against the cops as the drivers possessed the required documents to carry the item. They added that the seizure of the trucks had severely suffered the tribesmen who were short of the commodity.
