| 160,000 Pakistanis to perform Haj’ |

‘LAHORE
FEDERAL Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs Agha Sarwar Raza Qazilbash has said that the government has taken measures to ensure the convenience of Haj pilgrims and 160,000 Pakistanis will go to perform Haj this year.
Speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Monday, he said five categories had been formed for the quota system for private operators, adding that next year two more airlines would start Haj services. He said medical facilities will be ensured with dispensaries and ambulances for those going for Haj. He said the prime minister had ended the political Haj quota of 7,500 pilgrims and allocated it for the public.
Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry said the religious affairs ministry should provide foolproof security to the pilgrims, going for Haj and Umra He said the ministry’s responsibility was to create harmony between the religious communities, adding that Pakistan was an Islamic state and Ministry for Religious Affairs should take measures to make the world aware that Islam was a peaceful religion. He said the lack of knowledge about Islamic rules, regulations laws was causing complexities among religious sects. He urged the ministry to evolve a comprehensive strategy to end the conspiracies of anti-Pakistan elements.
