 KGS retain swimming title

KARACHI: Karachi Grammar School retained the title after they won the 18th Palmolive Sindh Women’s Swimming Championship concluded here at the Karachi Gymkhana Swimming Pool late Sunday night.

As per details, Karachi Grammar School ended on top after they secured 503 points. Dolphins finished as runners-up with 471 points while Karachi Club (76 points) and Bayview Academy with 36 points captured third and fourth positions respectively.

Duha Salim from Dolphins emerged as the best swimmer in eight and under age-group event, Areena Said, also from Dolphins topped the age-group category of nine to 10 years while Hoor Asrar Rauf form Karachi Grammar, who has also been to China for three months training, was declared the best swimmer of 11 to 12 years of age-group.

Similarly, Rida Mitha of Karachi Grammar School emerged as leading swimmer of 13 to 14 years age category, Aelia Mehdi (Dolphins), was announced as the best swimmer of 13-14 age-group while Mahnoor Maqsood (Dolphins) was declared the best swimmer in Open age-group.

Two hundred and eighty swimmers from 22 different units showed their worth in the two-day competitions held under the auspices of Karachi Women’s Swimming Association.

Member of National Assembly Nafeesa Shah, the daughter of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, was the chief guest during closing ceremony, who handed over trophies to the top teams and gave away medals to the leading swimmers.
