PUNJAB Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Malik Ahmed Ali Aulakh said that cooperatives were vital for improvement of government departments’ performance and achieving economic self-reliance.
Addressing a seminar here on Sunday, he said instead of copying others, we should seek guidance from Islamic teachings. He said that cooperatives movement would economically and socially benefit the poor.
“Today, Punjab’s leadership is following a pro-poor agenda the results of which are reaching the common man,” the minister said. He said that the Punjab government aimed at revamping cooperative societies by lifting ban on them and ww2ould extend small loans to the common man for livestock farming, cottage industry and mechanised farming through one-window operation, he said. Aulakh said this would strengthen national economy.
