 Qaim angry at poor uplift work in Larkana, Garhi Khuda Bakhsh

LARKANA: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Thursday expressed indignation over the ongoing development work in Garhi Khuda Bux and expressed dissatisfaction at the slow pace of development work all over Larkana.

Accompanied by provincial ministers Manzoor Husain Wasan, Agha Siraj Khan Durrani, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Ayaz Soomro and PPP leaders, Qaim arrived in Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto and offered Fateha and laid wreaths at the Mazars of Benazir Bhutto, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Mir Murtaza Bhutto, Shahnawaz Bhutto and Ameer Begum Bhutto. He also offered Fateha at the Mazars of Shuhada-e-Karsaz.

During his visit of the ongoing development projects and alignment on boundary wall in Garhi Khuda Bux, he expressed dissatisfaction with the poor pace of work.

Qaim presided over a meeting of members of the Mazar Committee and expressed his annoyance with officers concerned as they were not performing according to the prepared work plans.

He said the development work at the Mazar should be completed within the stipulated time, while any delay and poor quality of work will not be tolerated. He ordered to ensure quality work in time.

During the meeting, Chief Engineer, Buildings, Panah Ali Jumani briefed the chief minister about the schemes for public facilities, essential work around the mausoleum of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto at a total cost of Rs 432.00 million of which Rs 176.400 million were received and Rs 166 million were spent for earth filling of 36 acres and cementting 14 acres. Besides, the road work is in progress and 85 lavatory blocks are being built, and the work would be completed in time

Talking to media persons at the Mazar of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, he said all-out efforts were being made to maintain law and order under control and to safeguard the lives and properties of people in the province without any discrimination.

He said by the grace of Almighty Allah, no major incident of terrorism had occurred in the province due to timely intelligence reports and effective measures adopted by the law enforcement agencies throughout the province.

He said the second death anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto will be observed on December 27 in Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto. He said the development work of Mazar was in progress under the supervision of the Mazar Committee.

Qaim said there was shortage of irrigation water but they were trying to get due share to the meet the scarcity. He said the paddy crop was also available in market, and the government was determined to promote agriculture and to provide incentives to the growers so that more and more wheat may be sown in upcoming Rabi crop.

The cotton crop, he said, was being produced in a sufficient quantity and the price of paddy had already been fixed. The PASSCO will purchase paddy from growers at the fixed prices in the first phase. The government of Sindh will consider purchasing paddy from growers in the second phase. He said threats were posed by the terrorists to prominent figures but strict precautionary measures would be taken.

He added that facilities including transport and equipment will be provided to the police force. “We are rewarding efficient and brave police officers,” he said. Qaim met different delegations at the Circuit House, Larkana. He also received applications from the people present there and passed orders on the spot.
