Bureau report
PESHAWAR: Five to seven of the 12 persons killed in a mysterious blast in the Surkot village in North Waziristan on Wednesday were reported to be foreign militants whose identities could not be ascertained.
Sources said the blast that occurred inside a house in the Surkot village claimed the lives of a dozen people, including four women.
Seven others, including two minor girls, two boys and two women sustained
critical injuries in the blast and all of them are now under treatment at the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Miramshah.
There were rumours about the killing of a senior al-Qaeda operative Abu Musa al-Misri in the explosion. It is the third time that his death is being speculated as earlier the news about his killing had circulated twice in the area after the US drone attacks.
This time again the news of his killing seemed to be not tangible, as militant sources have denied the killing of any important al-Qaeda leader. Tribal sources said the blast was caused by stock of explosives stored in a house that killed 12 persons and injured seven others while four houses in the locality were destroyed.
