| 5m cotton bales reach ginneries |

MULTAN: Over five million or 5,048,243 bales of cotton have reached ginneries across Pakistan till October 15, says a report of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA).
The arrival figure shows a percentage increase of 44.28 per cent against 3.4 million bales recorded during the corresponding period of last year. Percentage increase was recorded higher at 55.96 per cent in Sindh with cotton arrivals around 2.4 million bales this year against 1.54 million bales recorded during the corresponding period last year.
Punjab showed a percentage increase of 35 per cent with 2.6 million (2,633,555) bales arrivals this year against 1.95 million bales recorded during the corresponding period last year. Out of the total arrivals of over 5 million, around 4 million (4,078,806) bales have been ginned.
Textile millers have bought 3.54 million bales including 1.96 million bales in Punjab and 1.58 million in Sindh. Exporters have bought 340,589 bales including 330,828 bales n Sindh and 9761 bales in Punjab.
The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has not bought any cotton bale. This brings the number of total bales sold out to exporters and millers to 3.88 million leaving 194,323 bales as the unsold stock. Phutti equivalent to 969,437 bales is lying unginned.
