Islamabad
Scattered downpour is expected to lash at parts of Punjab including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujrawala, Multan and Sargoda on Saturday night, Met office reported.
The current rain spell in Northern areas would prolong till October 20, due to which temperature would further fall in plain areas of the country, an official of Met Office.
Talking to APP, he said that October is the driest month of the year and this dry spell is expected to prolong till mid November. He said, after heavy rain spell in monsoon and the upcoming strong winter season, the dry month of October is a bridge between these two powerful seasons. The current rain spell expected in plain areas was good for crops, as wheat sowing season is approaching and there is no moisture in soil, he added.
“The rain is expected in pockets of wheat sowing areas, and it would be beneficial for wheat growing”, he said. Spokesman Federal Government Services Hospital, Dr. Sharif Astori in this regard said that due to dry weather, chances of malaria increased specially among children who used to play outdoor in evening. He said, in this season dust allergy cases also increased which caused skin rashes, flu, cough, sneezing and asthma.
