PESHAWAR: The Khassadar force in Jamrud subdivision of Khyber Agency Tuesday foiled a kidnapping bid of a minor from Peshawar by two alleged kidnappers hailing from Bara subdivision, where an anti-militant operation has been underway since September 1.
Nine-year-old Abbas son of Maroof Shah, a resident of Hassan Garhi, was picked by two alleged kidnappers from his school on Warsak Road. The Khassadar force in Jamrud, however, foiled the kidnapping bid and handed over the child to his parents the same day.
According to officials, the Khassadars performing duty at the Enzaro checkpoint signalled a black Corolla car (NY-585). The people sitting in the car, however, did not stop prompting the tribal police to open fire on them.
Upon search, the security officials recovered a minor child from the boot of the car in unconscious condition. They arrested two people who were identified as Abdur Rauf and Bilal Ahmad, residents of Bara.
After regaining consciousness, the child told journalists that he was administered an injection in buttock as they picked him while walking on road near his school. “I did not know what happened next,” said Abbas, who is Grade-III student at the Khyber Model School.
One of the kidnappers, Bilal Ahmad, who is running a medical store in Bara, told journalists that he was not a kidnapper and accompanied the accused to administer injection to the child.
The minor boy was later handed over to his father while the political administration announced Rs30,000 cash award for the Khassadars who foiled the kidnapping bid.
