 Prices of kitchen items fixed

Deputy Commissioner Amer Ahmed Ali fixed prices of items of daily use here on Monday. These prices would be effective from the 1st of Ramazan.

The price of ‘baisan’ was fixed at Rs48-50 per kilogram, ‘daal chana’ Rs41-43 per kilogram, ‘daal masoor’ Rs107-109 per kilogram, ‘daal moong’ Rs 47-49 per kilogram and ‘daal maash’ Rs108-110 per kilogram.

The milk price was fixed at Rs40 per litre, yoghurt Rs45 per kilogram, samosas Rs84 per dozen, pakoras Rs120 per kilogram and ‘jalaibis’ Rs120 per kilogram.

The deputy commissioner directed shopkeepers to display price lists in the shops prominently, In case of failure, he warned them of strict action. Shopkeepers were also asked to ensure the quality of kitchen items.

Earlier, the District Price Control Committee, in a meeting, decided to keep watch on prices of essential commodities during the month of Ramazan.

A control room has been established in the deputy commissioner’s office for attending complaints of consumers.

The deputy commissioner said that 14 price magistrates have been assigned duties to check prices of essential commodities and take action against profiteers and hoarders on the spot.

The meeting was attended by representatives of traders of all markets, wholesale dealers of fruit and vegetables, office-bearers of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, members of price control committees, members of Consumers Protection Society and magistrates.
