Mid-term polls to end crisis, says Imran
Sunday, July 05, 2009
By Our Correspondent

LAHORE

Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said mid-term polls could put an end to the prevailing crisis in the country as the incumbent government has failed to provide relief to the nation.

H was talking to media here on Saturday at Jamia Naeemia which he visited to express condolence with Raghib Naeemi over the tragic killing of his father Allama Mufti Sarfaraz Naeemi.

PTI Information central secretary Umer Sarfaraz Cheema, Mian Mehmood ul Rasheed, Ejaz Chaudhry, Mohammed Ishtiaq and other provincial leaders of the party were also present on the occasion.

Imran Khan said he was sure that mid term polls would be held, but could not tell the exact time. He said the condition of the country had deteriorated and the federation was facing serious crisis.

He said the prevailing situation in the country was the result of continuation of Musharraf policies, adding the rulers had waged war against their own people for dollars.

He said rifts were being created among the provinces of the country. He supported the idea of debate over the formation of new provinces and asserted reasons must be thrashed out why the demands were being made. The demand of separate provinces was mainly due to the sense of deprivation among the people. The solution to the problem lay in catering to the peopleís needs, he added.

The PTI chairman said the government had failed to fulfill the promises made during the February 18 polls. He said peace could not be maintained in Pakistan unless the NATO withdrew its troops from Afghanistan, as peace was linked with the departure of the foreign forces from the region. He said terrorists should be isolated with the help of local tribal people and FC, not with the foreign help. He said no religion taught extremism and the issue could only be solved through political means.

Later, Imran Khan visited Mansoorah to condole the death of former JI ameer Mian Tufail Mohammad.

At Mansoorah, he called on JI naib ameer Chaudhry Aslam Salimi, Punjab ameer Dr Waseem Akhtar and sons of Mian Tufail Mohammad, Ahsan Farooq and Mohsin Farooq. He remained with them for some time and offered Fateha for the departed soul.

PTI leaders, Addl secretary general Saifullah Khan Niazi, vice president Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhri, information secretary Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Lahore president Mian Mehmoodur RAsheed, Zubair Niazi, and others were also present.
