By Our Correspondent

LAHORE

A MOTHER of three was shot down Friday by her brother on suspicions of having illicit relations with her neighbour.

Lubna, 30, was allegedly in love with her neighbour, Siraj, before she was forcibly married to Shamim Ahmad. Lubna had three children from Shamim. In the meantime, she once again developed relations with Siraj.

Lubna’s brothers were aware of their sister’s extra marital relations and tried to stop her repeatedly but she refused to listen and even tried to elope with Siraj.

On Friday, when Lubna’s husband went out, she called Siraj at her house. Lubna’s brother, Ghulam Mustafa saw Siraj leaving his sister’s house.

Mustafa became infuriated and shot her dead. Later, Mustafa handed himself to police and confessed to the crime.

Green Town police have registered an FIR against Mustafa on the request of Lubna’s husband.

Fires in two houses: A fire broke out in a house in Firdos Market, Model Colony, St.# 3, Gulberg III, at around 11:16 am due to short circuit and reduced valuables worth lakhs of rupees to ashes on Friday.

Rescue 1122 Fire Service reached the spot and extinguished the fire.

The owner of the house, Nauman son of Ismail, said valuables worth Rs 100,000 were reduced to ashes.

Separately, another fire broke out in a house in Harbanspura when a child set a match stick on fire. Rescue 1122 Fire Service reached the spot and controlled the fire.

The owner of the house, Wazir son of Bashir, has claimed a loss of Rs 0.4 million.

Truck driver electrocuted: A 60-year-old driver of a private beverages company was electrocuted when he was busy in changing the tyre and a live electric wire fell on his truck in the Gujjarpura police limits on Friday.

The victim was identified as Aslam, 60, resident of Momin Pura in Cantt.

He was on his way on a truck No LZR-2976 to supply beverages in Gujjarpura police area.

He parked the truck alongside the road after one of the tyres of truck got punctured.

Meanwhile, a live electric wire broke down and fell on the truck which made the entire truck full of electricity.

As a result, the driver sustained severe electric shocks and died on the spot.

Lahore Electricity Supply Company officials were duly informed but they did not reach the spot for more than two hours which irritated the locals.

A large number of locals gathered on main road and staged a protest demonstration against Lesco.

However, the local police dispersed the mob by assuring them of legal action.
