JI warns of danger to security
Tuesday, February 17, 2009

LAHORE

JAMAAT-e-Islami naib ameer Hafiz Mohammad Idris has said that the country’s internal security is in danger because of incapability, cowardice and lack of initiative on the part of the government, which is a product of the National Reconciliation Ordinance.

He was talking to different delegations at Mansoorah on Monday, said a press release. The JI leader expressed concerns over the federal government’s admission of the Pakistani citizen’s involvement in the Mumbai attacks, saying the rulers had courted a serious disaster for the country. He said Advisor on Interior Rehman Malik had provided strong justification to the US, India and Israel to convince the world that terrorism was emerging from Pakistan. Although the government had conferred an award on the Jamaatud Dawah for its humanitarian activities yet it banned the organisation under the US and Indian pressure.

Meanwhile, the Jamaat-e-Islami and the Chinese ruling Communist Party has signed a memorandum of understanding for collaboration in the fields of justice, development, security and solidarity.

Following a week-long visit to China, the seven-member JI delegation signed the MoU in Beijing, said a message received at JI headquarters, Mansoorah, on Monday.

The MoU was signed by JI secretary general Syed Munawar Hasan and foreign affairs secretary of the Communist Party of China, Mr Lio Hong Sai. In the agreement, both parties agreed four points, including independence, equality, mutual respect and non-interference in the internal matters of each other’s countries.

The document praised the principled stance of China on Kashmir issue and reiterated that the stance and Chinese cooperation in this regard would continue. It also expressed gratitude to China’s support to Pakistan at every world forum, showing satisfaction over economic and developmental cooperation between the two countries with assurance that the work for regional stability would be carried on in future.

Both sides assured full support to China’s national and geographical unity, and fully backed the country’s stance on Taiwan, Tibet and Xin Jiang issues. JI Pakistan ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Liaqat Baloch, Prof Mohammad Ibrahim, Sirajul Haq, Abdul Ghaffar Aziz and Asif Luqman Qazi were also present on the occasion.
