ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari said on Friday that Pak-Afghan cooperation would be made more effective to accomplish success in the war against terrorism.

The president said this in a meeting with Afghan Foreign Minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi was also present on the occasion. The meeting discussed Pak-Afghan relations, the situation on borders, in the region as well as the war on terror.

President Zardari said the terrorist elements would not be allowed to use the Pakistani soil against any other country nor would they be allowed to impose their own agenda on the people.

The president stressed the need for boosting bilateral trade ties between the two countries. The Afghan foreign minister conveyed to President Zardari the message of greetings of President Hamid Karzai.

APP adds: Pakistan and Afghanistan expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation during a brief visit to Islamabad on Friday by Afghan Foreign Minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta, the foreign ministry said.
