Returning Officer of PP-141, Lahore on Saturday deferred the decision on an objection petition against the election of PML-N President Mian Shahbaz Sharif.
The decision was scheduled to be announced on Saturday but due to some reasons the RO adjourned it for May 19(tomorrow).
The objection petition was filed by Azhar Lodhi and Shahid Orakzai submitting that Mr Shahbaz had passed sarcastic remarks against judiciary while addressing a press conference at Sharif Medical Complex in April.
According to Article 63 (G)(1) of the constitution, a person who committed contempt of court could not contest elections whether he/she was convicted or not, the applicants said.
They alleged Mr Shahbaz was also involved in the Supreme Court storming case, so he be barred from contesting the by-election. Earlier on May 15, Returning Officer of PP-154 had accepted the nomination papers of Shahbaz.
