Two robbers were saved from becoming the latest victims of public wrath after the police took them into custody at a police station.
Two robbers were caught by the public and the police inside the premises of Sea View Apartments on Saturday. This time around, however, the police saved the bandits from the public’s wrath as the latter reportedly wished to set the bandits on fire - a fate that has been met by robbers in two instances over the last three days. The Darakhshan police also recovered arms and looted items from the culprits.
Residents and police said that it was about noon when two armed bandits broke into Block-49, Sea View Apartments by dodging the security personnel.
The bandits barged into the house of Shabbir (name changed at victim’s request) and at gunpoint took the family and looted cash, jewellery, cell phones, TV, DVD players and other household items and made a bid to flee.
In the meantime, the family started raising cries for help while the neighbours alerted the area police. A patrolling mobile immediately entered the Sea View Apartments and nabbed the bandits.
The bandits were trapped by the joint efforts of the public and the police; the robbers tried to escape, but were caught by the police.
The public continuously demanded of the police to hand the robbers over so that they could give them a thrashing, but the police managed to safely transport the crooks to the police station.
The SP, Clifton Town, Azad Khan, said that the bandits were identified as Nadeem Ahmed and Abdul Ghaffar. Two licensed TT pistols, and other looted items were recovered from their possession. A case was lodged at the police station and further interrogation is ongoing.
