 Electricity from Iran
Saturday, May 10, 2008
The Iranian president during his recent stopover in Islamabad announced that Iran was willing to provide 1,100 mega watts of energy to Pakistan on an immediate basis. However, it is intriguing that later the federal minister for water and power while explaining the future plans regarding additional power supply talked about power generation by the public and private sectors did not mention the possibility of receiving 1,100 MW from Iran. I hope Iran's offer is being considered seriously by the government and no outside power is allowed to impede the generous and timely power supply from a friendly neighbouring country.
