SHIKARPUR: A bomb blast at another shrine in interior Sindh resulted in four fatalities and left at least 12 people injured here on Monday, Geo News reported.

The blast tore through Dargah Pir Hajan Shah Huzoori in Marri village, near Shikarpur, when a large number of devotees were visiting the shrine.

Eyewitnesses say an unknown man was spotted shooting off after leaving a suspicious looking bag at the scene, but no one could do anything as the bomb in the bag went off the next moment.

"The explosion came on the heels of his throwing a bag full of explosives among a throng of visitors. He was nowhere to be found after the blast", said an injured devotee.

The injured and the dead have been shifted to Civil Hospital Shikarpur.

Sources said Syed Hajan Shah, the Gaddi Nasheed --a living descendant of the saint buried as well as the custodian of the shrine-- was also among the critically injured. He was being shifted to Larkana for further medical treatment.

Later, the deputy commissioner Shikarpur told media that the Syed sahib would be moved to Karachi for treatment.

Angry devotees and local residents took to streets and shut the city down. Violent protests were reported to have broken out in parts of Shikarpur.

"Protestors blocked the national highway and the railway track after the incident. They were chanting slogans against the government demanding immediate justice", sources told Geo News

More details are awaited.
