KARACHI: The late adviser to chief minister Sindh, Dr Mohammad Ali Shah, who suffered a fatal heart attack in a US hospital on Monday, was laid to rest in the Paposh Nagar graveyard here on Thursday, Geo News reported.
Thousands of people offered former sports minister’s funeral prayer at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium.
Cricketer Shahid Afridi, veteran player Sikandar Bakht, squash legend Jahangir Khan, and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Babar Ghauri were also among those who took part in Dr Shah’s last rites.
Dr Shah’s Soyem (special mourning service on the third day after the death) will be held on Saturday.
Dr Shah was a renowned orthopedic surgeon and member of the Pakistan Cricket Board governing board. Politically, he was affiliated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
Dr Shah died on February 4th, 2013 in Houston after suffering from a heart attack and kidney failure during his chemotherapy.
