LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) bench headed by Chief Justice Aijaz Ahmed Chaudhry held okay for acting governor to make appointments on vital posts and offices, Geo News reported Tuesday.
A full LHC bench discharged petition against appointments to the offices of Provincial Ombudsman and chairman Services Tribunal by Acting Punjab Governor Rana Muhammed Iqbal.
The petition filed by Aurangzeb Burke of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) said the Rana Muhammed Iqbal transgressed his discretionary powers by making appointments on key posts as Acting Governor of Punjab in absence of Governor Salman Taseer.
The court declared that the Acting governor made appointments on the advice and summary sent by the Chief Minister; and hence, it does not stand in contradiction of the Constitution.
