LAHORE: Owing to a major development/maintenance work millions of consumers in and around Lahore will face a 36-hour Sui (natural) gas closure starting from Monday 9:00 AM, Geo News reported

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) notified the gas outage in a statement issued here.

"The supply of gas to the consumers will be suspended so that the company could join a 24" diameter pipeline to the system", an SNGPL spokesman said.

He said that this development would step up the gas supply to the consumers.

"Welding a joint between the a pipeline this big and the mainline is a time consuming as well as hectic job, that's why we urge the consumers to cooperate with us”, he added.

According to SNGPL spokesman, the supply of gas will be suspended in Lahore Cantt, Township, Ferozpur, Model Town, Gulberg, Harbanspura, Baidian Road, Chungi Amar Siddhu, Sabzazar, Multan Road, and other areas.

Moreover, Kusoor, Dipalpur, Mustupphabad, Sooay Aasil, Raja Jang, Jumman Gaon, Baddoo Milli, Pando, and Ladhay will also face Sui gas outage for 36 hours.

The supply will remain suspended from Monday 9:00 AM to Tuesday 9:00 PM.

Why Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL)made this announcement of gas closure just on time? Were they not aware of this work before time? They should have informed public at least week ago if they had plan for major development/maintenance work.
