KARACHI: A sweeping electricity breakdown has struck parts of Karachi, Geo News reported.

The power failure plunged Federal B-Area, Gulberg, Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, North Karachi, Surjani Town, and SITE areas in darkness early Sunday morning.

On the other hand Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC)in a statement issued said that a faulty extra-high-tension line led to this blackout.

"Power supply to parts of metropolis was suspended after the transmission line tripped owing to a sudden overload", said the statement.

The statement also added that it would take its engineers sometime before they troubleshoot the fault.
