Gang involved in abducting, selling newborns busted

FAISALABAD: Civil Lines police on Saturday smashed a gang allegedly involved in abducting and selling several dozens of newborn babies.

On the complaint of Rehana Sarwar, Civil Lines police conducted a raid at PMC Colony and arrested Khurshid Bibi, a class IV employee at the Allied Hospital, and her three accomplices who were allegedly involved in abducting newborn babies from various hospitals for the last 30 years.

The arrested accused persons admitted that they had so far sold several dozens of abducted babies to the needy and issueless families. Khurshid Bibi and other accused also admitted that they had recently sold a five-year-old abducted child after receiving Rs 180,000 from a man residing in Ghulam Muhammadabad locality. Further investigation is under way.

POWER THEFT DETECTED AT EX-MINISTER RESIDENCE: A Fesco team on Saturday raided and detected power theft in the residences of former PPP provincial minister and his son-in-law at Shalimar Town area.

The Fesco team led by Peoples Colony Executive Engineer Syed Fahim Shah, the Batala Colony SDO and the Samundri Road SDO conducted the raid and found that electricity was being pilfered at the bungalows of a former provincial minister and his son-in-law by getting electricity through direct lines.

When the raiding team was busy removing six meters installed at both residences, the families’ members and their servants allegedly detained the raiding team members and the driver of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company team. On seeing the situation, the Fesco executive engineer rushed to the SP office on a media van to get release his team members.

On the request of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company executive engineer, the SP sent the police force to get release the Fesco team members and remove the meters.

Later, Faisalabad Electric Supply Company Executive Engineer Syed Fahim has lodged an application with the police for registration of a case against the former PPP provincial minister and his son-in-law.

THREE FRIENDS KILLED IN ACCIDENT: Three friends were killed in an accident near Jawad Chowk on Saturday.

Muhammad Jameel, Ali Raza and Muhammad Adeel were on their way by a bike when their motorbike collided with truck in Ghulam Muhammadabad police limits. All three friends were returning home after taking bath in a swimming pool. Ghulam Muhammadabad police have registered a case and started investigation.
