Pak to return $100.5 m to IMF on Oct 2

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will be making a repayment of 100.5 million dollars on October 2 to International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a fifth installment against the 7.6 billion dollar loan obtained under a standby arrangement in 2008.

 

According to sources, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has made the arrangements to make the above payment.

 

Under the arrangement, Pakistan was supposed to repay 2.58 billion dollars to the IMF during the financial year 2012-13, and so far it has made payments amounting to 400 million dollars.

Why is there no fanfare when we take the loan? Photocopies of cheques sent to every pakistani who will have to repay the loan.
