KARACHI: Heavy machinery has arrived to plug the breach developed in Hub canal’s channel 23, Geo News reported.

Repair work has been initiated at the site, however, analysts are of view that it will take 4-5 days to plug breach and the water supply to areas receiving from the Hub canal would remain suspended till that.

It is pertinent to mention here that Hub canal breach has put the supply of at least 100 million gallons water to metropolis in jeopardy.

Water gushing out of the breach has flooded the neighboring areas of Madinatul Hikmat and Bhoray Khan Goth.

They feared a drastic shortage of water in Karachi if the breach was not plugged in time.

The Chief Engineer, Karachi Water & Sewerage Borad (KW&SB) told Geo News that staffers have been fielded to stem the loss of water, whereas WAPDA authorities have already choked further inflow of water into the channel 23 from Hub Dam.
