Windies win toss, bat against Australia

COLOMBO: West Indies captain Darren Sammy won the toss and elected to bat against Australia in a Group B match of the World Twenty20 in Colombo on Saturday.

The West Indies are playing their first match in the tournament. Australia defeated Ireland by seven wickets on Wednesday.

Australia: George Bailey (captain), David Warner, Shane Watson, Matthew Wade, Michael Hussey, Cameron White, Daniel Christian, Glenn Maxwell, Brad Hogg, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins.

West Indies: Darren Sammy (captain), Dwayne Bravo, Johnson Charles, Fidel Edwards, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Marlon Samuels, Dwayne Smith.

Umpires: Aleem Dar (PAK) and Asad Rauf (PAK), TV umpire: Kumar Dharmasena (SL)
