Palestine at the UN

This refers to the news report, ‘Palestinian flag flies at UN for first time’ (October 1). This is not only an historic event but a feather in the cap of President Obama too. This is a big diplomatic achievement of the Palestinian Authority. Such was the importance of the event that President Mahmoud Abbas declared that from now on Palestinians are no longer bound by the agreements signed with Israel earlier.
But there is a warning sign as well. Israel has been sparing the Palestinian Authority so far. Now it may use its right of direct attack and invasion, considering the Palestinian territory an enemy country. The responsibility to protect Palestinians lies on Arab states, especially on Egypt and Saudi Arabia. These two countries should do everything so that Palestinians stop living under constant fear of Israeli invasion.
