Notice taken of pillion riding arrests

KARACHI: The Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, Justice Mushir Alam has taken notice of hundreds of arrests made in violation of pillion riding ban here.

 

Justice Alam has directed all magistrates to visit police stations and order the release of those arrested.

 

Chief Justice Mushir Alam also ordered that no accused could spend a night in police custody. He directed magistrates to issue release orders on easy conditions, adding that the accused be released on the basis of their CNIC if needed.

 

Police had made several arrests following the ban on pillion riding placed by the Sindh government in Karachi.

It's a relief to know that the judge has empathy for the middle-class men. The government and police are quite insensitive. The police is unable to perform effective investigations or nab the killers... who just continue their killing sprees, and citizens have to spend the day in jail because the police is unable to do their jobs and the government has no clue how to form a security plan more elaborate than "ban pillion riding".

A good job done by Justice Musheer Alam. Nearly all of the persons arrested were not aware of the sudden ban. Moreover, its a tyranny to impose ban on pillion riding at the occasion of Eid. The ban usurps the rights of the common man and not elite " car walas" but I presume that Justice Saheb despite being against the ban did not order to lift it as it would be said that he was encroaching upon the executive.

Police is the main root of all evil in our country. Wind it up and most of the crime will itself finish. Everyone knows they are behind every crime that occur in our cities may it be prostitution, gambling, land mafia, bhatta mafia, drug mafia and so on and on. It's the most corrupt department of our country where money talks louder than words.
