KARACHI: Six people were killed, in which 3 became the victims of target killing during the last 24 hours.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, SSP South Asif Ijaz Sheikh said that 762 alleged criminals were arrested. The criminals included 220 absconders, 113 proclaimed offenders and 529 accused involved in criminal activities.
He said that 148 police encounters took place during the last 23 days, finishing 63 gangs and killing nine alleged dacoits.
The SSP South said 2000 policemen are being deployed around the mausoleum of Quaid e Azam on the eve of Independence Day, adding that 8000 more police personnel would be deployed across the city.
He said 5 SMGs, 6 Riffles, 706 pistols, 6 repeaters, 4 mausers, 4 hand grenades, were recovered in police action during the Holy month of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, 27 criminals were arrested during the last 24 hours, 11 from south zone, 1 from east, 6 from Malir, 2 from west and 7 from central, he added.
