RAWALPINDI: A shootout between two groups has resulted in the death of six people, four of them brothers, here in Rawalpindi, Geo News reported.

According to police, a spat during a Jirga (a meeting of family elders to decide disputes) in Rawalpindi’s Gulistan Colony spiraled out of control and firearms came into play. Five people were killed on the spot due to firing.

The firing also left one person critically injured, who later died in the hospital.

It was later revealed that the disputants were fighting over land.

An investigation has been launched, but no arrests have been reported so far.

may their souls rest in peace ameen.

May Allah Allmighty rest them in Paradise. The Supreme Court has outlawed Jirgas in Pakistan and the only reason they still exist is an impoverished and uneducated police force. The citizens of the area concerned are also helpless because this cultural tradition refuses to be kicked out of the door with the blessings of our banal parliamentarians. Salams
