ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to file a review petition in the Supreme Court against the judgement striking down the Contempt of Court Act 2012.

A petition will also be filed seeking a review of the apex court's July 12 order asking the prime minister to write the letter to Swiss authorities.

According to sources, this decision was taken after President Asif Ali Zardari consulted coalition partners and later met Law Minister Farooq Naek.

Both review petitions will be filed prior to August 8 which is the due date for Prime Minster Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to implement the Supreme Court’s order in the NRO implementation case.

Constitution is supreme law and its statutes are law of land if "made in pursuance" of Constitution or is void. Court should strike out review petition as its final decision and not subject to review. Constitution by judges is fundamental law, it belongs to them to ascertain its meaning, as well meaning of any act of legislative body. Zardari to hide his corruption is prepared to risk democracy, it is an abuse of process, notwithstanding review, Court should find Raja Rental guilty of contempt
