LONDON: Pakistani swimmer Israr Hussain and shooter Khurram Inam crashed out of their events at the London Olympics.

Israr Hussain who had earned a wild card entry finished last during his 100 m freestyle swimming meet.

Meanwhile shooter Khurram Iman failed to qualify for medal contention in the skeet event with a total score of 112.

Pakistan’s hopes of obtaining a gold medal now rest with the national hockey team who played a 1-1 draw against Spain on Monday.

I do not understand what type of preparations these athletes did for Olympics. With this type of results, it’s better not to perform then bringing disgrace to our country.

Pakistan has huge potential for Olympic medals. However, government officials have put less than 3% GDP into education, and a fraction of that to sports. We are a proud nation, but political families have taken all hope and money from good peoples, and destroyed any chance of medals.

@Kesar, the first thing you need to attain excellence is positive attitude and continuous improvement. Israr by overcoming odds have proved that he have both. If enough number of people possesses that then we are guaranteed to find world class performers in many fields. In US the young swimmers are discouraged to make Olympics as their aim, they are only coached to work hard and make continuous improvements and have fun. A chance of any US swimmer of making the Olympic team is 250,000 to 1!

Really sad to know that Pakistan can possibly be 3rd 2nd or 1st place in only one sport.....Maybe last....... Pakistan has talent come on people lean to show it! Stop depending on others to do it for you and stop being lazy!

Mediocrity is the name of the game in pakistan. Unfortunately, the rest of the world belives in excellence.
