KARACHI: Police claimed to have arrested three accused including two masterminds of a inter-province car lifter gang while recovering sophisticated weapons, fake number plates and papers, tracker jammers and two motorcycles.
SP Malir Syed Zahid Husain Shah said this in a press briefing at Quaidabad police station. The recovered weapons and other material were shown to the media.
He said SHO Quaidabad Amanullah Marwat while snap checking flagged down suspicious pillion riders who were wearing shawls despite hot weather.
When the two did not stop police chased them and arrested them, who were later identified as Saddam and Tariq. The police seized a triple-two rifle, instruments to jam tracker, two number plates of Islamabad, fake papers and a stolen motorcycle.
As per initial investigations the accused snatched cars from posh area of Karachi. They confessed stealing cars from Karachi and selling them to another group in Larkana from where the cars were supplied across the country.
They submitted to send snatched cars to other areas thorough putting Islamabad number plates and forging fake papers of PIA.
The bike seized from them was stolen snatched from limits of Sharafi Goth police station.
In separate action the police arrested an accused street criminal Bakht Zaman and recovered a pistol, ten snatched cell phones and a motorcycle, which was stolen from jurisdiction of Quaidabad police
station on July 2. (PPI)
