Aitzaz has concerns over contempt bill

ISLAMABAD: PPP leader Senator Aitzaz Ahsan has expressed reservations over the contempt of court bill. Ahsan speaking to the media outside Parliament said that he had conveyed his reservations to the party.

 

“Criticism of the court in polite language should be protected,” Ahsan said.

 

Ahsan added that he was not consulted when the legislation was being made nor does the contempt bill contain his opinions.

 

Ahsan informed reporters that he was leaving for New Delhi on 12 July and would not appear as Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf’s lawyer in the NRO implementation case.

 

The National Assembly last Monday night passed the contempt of court bill, 2012, under section 248(1) of the constitution exempting all government office holders, including the Prime Minister and all other ministers from court proceedings under contempt charges.

Aitzaz Ahsan is national hero who arranged the return of exiled leaders Mohtarama and Nawaz Shrif for start of democratic process in the country. He fought and achieved restoration of independent judiciary. Mr. Ahsan is a man of conscious,he plays role accordingly. He has once again proven that he will never compromise on any issue which is against the interest of his nation.

I think this contempt bill is against the spirit of fundamental rights and purely discriminatory,MR.Aitzaz Ahsan is absolutely right expressing his reservations about the contempt bill.

I think there are many important matters, which really need to discuss in assembly and pass the laws,contempt bill has nothing to do with common people. This is absolutely wastage of time. just protecting the bad people. Aitzaz Ahsan have to go aganist it. It looks like, he has no respect for supreme court. In my opanion he has lost his respect too.

Contempt of Crooks by the Supreme Court is an insult to Democracy and the revenge of people. And, Aitzaz has to make his living even beyond this ruffian-rule. Better for him to find some narrow-alley for the rainy-days.
