WASHINGTON: United States Monday urged Pakistan to 'put the squeeze' on the Haqqani network.

During a daily press briefing, US State Department's spokesman Patrick Ventrell said the Haqqani Network made 'heinous attacks' against Afghan civilians and Americans, adding that they want them to be stopped.

The spokesman said that the trilateral Core Group meeting in Tokyo is an opportunity to discuss wider security issues and cross-border issues and commitment to stopping terrorism on both sides of the border that affects Afghan interests, Pakistan interests and American interests.

He said "Secretary Clinton met with Foreign Minister Khar in a bilateral setting. And I can assure you that the Haqqani Network was something that was raised at the forefront."
