ISLAMABAD: The government printed Rs1.5 billion daily in new currency notes during the 1 June 2011 and 25 July 2012, according to Finance Ministry sources.

The total amount in new currency printed by the government during this time period was Rs592 billion.

Prior to this, on average the government would print Rs150 to Rs200 billion in new currency notes annually.

The increase was seen because the government could not meet its expenses, there was a decline in foreign aid and there were delays in the disbursement of funds for expenses incurred while fighting terrorism.

Who will be accountable for this mess that will take generations to pay off? Will anybody care to tell the nation what it actually means, how many years does it set us back in terms of progress. How will the industry get kick started when all this money is consumed in keeping a huge cabinet, build helipad for PM who will last no more than a fortnight? Do they remember these facts when they go for foreign countries with huge numbers of free loaders.
