The meeting of the committee held under the chair of Khursheed Shah deliberated on the names of senior on duty and retired judges to fill the post of CEC, vacant since March 24.

After considering the nominations forwarded by the prime minister and the Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, the committee unanimously confirmed the name of former justice Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim for the appointment as Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan.

How is he impartial exactly? He has served in various capacities for PPP governments? That make's him a political figure with political affiliations. If anything, he sounds extremely partial not impartial.

It is a good step but this does not mean that elections will be fair as the entire administration of EC remains the same and these are the people who hold elections. One has to realize that Zardari will hold elections to win only! So don't except him give up. Elections held under only Army will be fair, especially in Karachi where MQM will surely boycott if they are under Army because then they cannot fill the ballots.

Undoubtedely Fakhrudin G. Ebrahim is man with very high integrity and his acting as CEC will bring lot of confidence in Election process. He is in his eighties but thank Allah, he is in good health. I hope that everyone will extend full and honest cooperation to him in discharging his duties.
