BAGHDAD: A car bomb ripped through a marketplace in the central Iraqi town of Zubaidiyah on Wednesday morning, killing at least eight people and wounding 22 others, security and medical officials said.
The attack occurred at around 9:15 am (0615 GMT) in Zubaidiyah, around 100 kilometres (60 miles) southeast of Baghdad in Wasit province. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity.
Tuesday's attack came a day after a spate of violence across the country killed 38 people, including 26 who died when a truck packed with explosives detonated in a market in the central city of Diwaniyah.
