17 public service vehicles impounded

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) on Monday impounded 17 public service vehicles which failed to get their route permits renewed on time and also imposed heavy fines on the transporters for not completing routes and over charging from commuters.

 

According to details, Secretary ITA, Maqbool Mustafa, during surprise checking imposed heavy fines on the violators for overcharging and not completing the designated routes.

 

He said that the administration has also launched a special drive against those public service vehicles which have not get their route permits renewed within stipulated time and impounded 17 public service vehicles.

 

Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad, Amer Ali Ahmed said that a complaint cell has also been set up in the office of Secretary Islamabad Transport Authority to take immediate action on the public complaints and redress the grievances of commuters pertaining to non-completion of routes and over charging by the transporters.
