LAHORE: The government of Punjab has arrested two doctors on murder charges while 33 protesting doctors were transferred to jail after house arrest, Geo News reported Monday.

DCO Lahore Noor-ul-Amin Mengal told Geo News that 33 doctors, who were on strike, were arrested and sent to jail Sunday night under Section 3 of maintenance of public order (MPO).

On the other hand, a case was registered against two other doctors charging them with Section 302 in Gawalmandi police station after a baby died in Lahore as no doctor was around to provide treatment to the seriously ill child.

The charged doctors were arrested and will be presented in the local court today to obtain remand.

They might have legitimate reasons going on strike but not at expense of poor patients. The news which struck me the most is that one doc while going on strike took the "drip" off of a 3 years old boy, and next day the kid died. Isn't cruelty? I'm sure there must be some other ways for these docs to have their demands heard, but they chose the way of street boys. At least there should be a difference between cheap politicians and a doctors.

was health minister (His highness Shahbaz Sharif) or any other Punjab Govt official arrested on basis of "murder" when they injected poison in healthy patients through unregulated drugs at PIMS. How many deaths occur? Did we even see him resigning. Might is right is the rule of this country!

these doctors are very stupid, non sense and non reponsible, they should be punished under section 302 who are playing with lives just for few paisas,so that no body will try to rpeat such action in future.

why did the Punjab government provoke the closure of emergencies by arresting doctors? Why was the service structure promised to them previously not implemented? On whose direction did the police arrest the doctor?one is in icu in critical condition.Who can understand what doctors go through everyday in the emergencies and what problems they face.Who is going to ask the tough questions?I know doctors who do 2 jobs to make ends meet

I cant believe what is happening ,I am in this prof myself, how can the doctors justify not attending to patients.I find the whole culture has changed in Pakistan over the years, people have become very insensitive, cruel. The parents of these people should put some sense in there yougsters. Medical/nursing are essential services,in western countries no one can even think of doing what is happening in Pakistan.

How many politicians have been arrested so far for being allegedly allowing the US Drone attacks where many innocent lives of elderly, women and children are taken blindly. No court of law orders the capital sentence without trial anywhere in the world. The doctors' strike is unjustified but the government should have laid a service structure in place without being asked for!

Sack the troublesome doctors!

Bad doctors GO GOOD doctors life saving anywhere in the world takes a lot of attention and courage to save lives and keep life going on forever.

though capital punishment is a debatable issue these days in Pakistan... punishment under 302 ought to be meted out to them , if proven guilty !
