ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Water and Power Ahmed Mukhtar declared that he and Rasool Khan Mehsood cannot hold their respective posts at the same time, Geo News reported on Monday.

According to sources, Ahmed Mukhtar had issued orders to suspend Managing Director of National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) Rasool Mehsood from his position as soon as he took charge of his ministry. However, Rasool Mehsood has not yet left his post.

While speaking to the media here today, Ahmed Mukhtar alleged that Mehsood is using his contacts to retain his position. He challenged to leave his ministry if Mehsood continued working on his position.

While talking about the prevalent issue of loadshedding, Mukhtar termed the transportation issue as the basic commotion and not the fuel dearth.

He also mentioned that Hyderabad faces 8, Lahore 9, Multan 8 and Islamabad experiences seven hours of load-shedding every day.

Ahmed Mukhtar said that KESC has been promised 710 megawatts of electricity on daily basis and efforts are underway to provide that so that the company can generate its own electricity.

There is no shortage of electricity but surplus, the main root cause and problem is stealing of electricity and euphimistically calling it “LINE LOSES” and which is impossible to stop in present system of the country and government.

Ahmed Mukhtar is an experienced industrialist untainted by corruption. Just because he belongs to PPP, doesn't give any one the right to criticize him. He had the guts to criticize the current power policy of his own government which should be appreciated.

To all those calling Rasool Khan Mehsud an experienced technocrat/an indispensable bureaucrat clearly have no idea what they are talking about. Mr. Mehsud has been the head of NTDC for at least 3-4 years now. For a good time, he was concurrently holding the post of the MD Pepco as well. Look at the prevalent corruption he has has instituted in both the organizations. Everyone down to a petty clerk in the NTDC hierarchy want percentages of everything. This evil needs to be nipped in the bud.

I would definitely trust a guy with 30 plus years experience in the energy sector than a corrupt novice who may want to install his hand picked stooge to milk whatever is left in the already drained cow called WAPDA! My vote to the bureaucrat!

Mr Ahmad Mukhtar in which world do u live. Do all of u in PPP has taken the oath to bluff and speak lies. Come out of ur ministerial palace and spend a day in rawalpindi, lahore, gujrat, multan or hyderabad. U will then come to know the duration of load sheeding which is 18 and 19 hours and not 8 and 9 hours. If u canot redress the sufferings of people do not put salt on their wolunds by such verbosties.
