ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and its coalition partners have nominated Raja Pervaiz Ashraf for the post of prime minister, Geo News reported Friday.

Speaking alongside MQM’s Haider Abbas Rizivi and ANP’s Afrasiab Khattak, senior PPP leader Khrshid Shah made the announcement.

Prior to this announcement, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf was the covering candidate for former PPP frontrunner Makhdoom Shahabuddin whose name was later dropped due to his involvement in the Ephedrine scandal case and an anti-narcotics court issuing a non-bailable warrant for his arrest.

Apart from Ashraf and Shahabuddin, Qamar Zaman Kaira from the PPP, Maulana Fazlur Rehman from the JUI-F and Mehtab Abbasi from the PML-N had filed their nomination papers.

The next prime minister of Pakistan will be elected during the National Assembly session which has been convened today in the evening.

By nominating two canadiadtes one after another, both of them under scrutiny for corruption, the current PPP has dug its own grave. Anyway, whoever beomes the PM remaining loyal to Zardari, will be eventually declared disqualified by the SC sooner or later. No good news from home in sight!

What difference does it make for him to become PM. One way or other he would have been disqualified. One thing for sure during his short tenure he will complete all corrupt projects for Zardari. Zardari should have also prepared a second qurbani ka baqrah.

This represents the PPP as we know it today. Incompetent, corrupt, arrogant, and no interest in the welfare of the people. This is a very sad day for the Bhuttos. The Bhutto PPP is finished. Zardari got his way.

I am sure a happy day for the corrupt rulers, having opted for Raja Rental instead of the decent Qamar Zaman Kaira.
