ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly session to elect the new prime minister would be convened on Friday (June 22), Geo News reported.

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader, Syed Khurshid Shah told media that it has been decided to convene the NA session on Friday at 5:30pm, while the nomination papers could be submitted on Thursday.

The PPP is considering Makhdoom Shahbuddin and Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar for the Office of Prime Minister after the disqualification of Yusuf Raza Gilani.

The decision was taken in a meeting attended by senior leaders of the PPP held here on late Tuesday under the chairmanship of President Asif Ali Zardari.

The final name for the prime minister will be announced in today's parliamentary party meeting of the PPP.

Following the disqualification of Yusuf Raza Gilani by the Supreme Court on Tuesday afternoon, the ruling coalition met here at the Presidency in an emergent meeting to discuss the pros and cons of the Supreme Court's decision to disqualify Gilani as the prime minister and MNA. President Asif Ali Zardari chaired the meeting.

The participants authorised President Zardari to nominate the next premier. Former PM Gilani expressed reservations over the name of Shahabuddin during the meeting.

Also, the ruling coalition partners have convened meetings of their respective parliamentary parties to discuss the current political situation.

- where would the next PM come from? if you said, 'from pakistan' then how could it be that the next sample from the SAME cesspool will be purer than the last one? can some one explain that to the rest of us?

Its not Gilani and Zardari who are dumb, it is people who think that the PM being disqualified by the SC was a big step towards tightening the noose around Zardari's neck. Gilani is merely a servant/pawn to Zardari who serves the purpose of protecting Zardari's throne/office of the President. Gilani bought Zardari 2 and 1/2 years of delay in writing to the Swiss courts. Gilani's dismissal only goes to buy Zardari more time for two reasons.

Prime duty of new PM has to be writting a letter to Swiss Authority To open the case. Before filing nomination paper it must be considered. This time PM will not get time and must understand the consequences Of failing to do so.

Pakistan Supreme court really disqualified Ex-PM Gilani for his guilty specially for corruption charges we welcome it.But now our question is, can concern persons present a honest, wise and vision oriented PM for Pakistan who can manage disorder situations of Pakistan, stop everyday bombing events, corruptions and so on. It is very bad fortune for Pakistan that it had no good leader after 1947 except Founder of Pakistan Kaidey Azam Jinna and some others.

Will Pakistan get next a right PM?

I think the new PM will write letter to Swiss authorites rather than risk his own disqualification. Noose around Zardari is being tightened. Irresprctive of what Aitazaz says in Public, he wants, like majority PPP memberes/ supporters, Zardari to get trapped and be kicked out.

One hopes next PM will not be as dumb as Gilani prepared to play His Lord and Masters tunes putting at stake his own position of that of a PM and as an MNA to protect a glorified gangster at Presidency. The new PM should act his role as CEO in stopping Zardari acting his role. He should legislate for police reforms of non political interference, independent EC, a political free NAB and importantly redefine role of AG as advisor to Government not a Court Prosecutor due to conflict of interest.
