ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is considering Makhdoom Shahbuddin and Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar for the Office of Prime Minister after the disqualification of Yusuf Raza Gilani, sources said.

According to the sources, the decision was taken in a meeting attended by senior leaders of the PPP held here on late Tuesday under the chairmanship of President Asif Ali Zardari.

The leaders also decided that the National Assembly session would be summoned on Thursday for the election of the Leader of the House, sources added.

The final name for the prime minister will be announced in today's parliamentary party meeting of the PPP.

Following the disqualification of Yusuf Raza Gilani by the Supreme Court on Tuesday afternoon, the ruling coalition met here at the Presidency in an emergent meeting to discuss the pros and cons of the Supreme Court's decision to disqualify Gilani as the prime minister and MNA. President Asif Ali Zardari chaired the meeting.

The participants authorised President Zardari to nominate the next premier. Former PM Gilani expressed reservations over the name of Shahabuddin during the meeting.

Also, the ruling coalition partners have convened meetings of their respective parliamentary parties to discuss the current political situation.

I am still under confusion as to what's point of disqualifying the PM, why not the entire cabinet and go for re election? PPP will never allow the upcoming PM to write a letter against the President, like was the case with Mr Gilani. This is all just a game, CJ was questioned on his honesty by the Arsalan Suo Moto. In turn now the Parliament faces it. Its a vicious cycle all in all. None is to be trusted.

The main purpose for removal of Gilani was his refusal to to write a letter to Swiss Authority. Whoever is appointed His prime duty must be to write a letter. SC must summon appointed PM despatch letter to Swiss Authority within 5 days as long time has been Wasted

I am seriously sceptic about all Makhdooms! They are only good to "Make-Dooms at Tombs" and mint their gold.

The ball is now in Zardari's court. Who so ever will be the new PM, he will have to act on behalf of SC now. It is a long delayed but extremely brilliant move by the SC. There is a possibility of Check Mate for Asif Ali Zardari now.

Pakistanis be prepared for another debacle. This man is the same person whom the supreme court ordered to put under arrest. He is a partner to Musa Gilani in the 6 billion drug scandal ..

In addition, I wish to say, free and fair elections are the primary need; otherwise the present rotten eggs will spoil the entire basket. Here, last Sunday's elections in Greece must serve as a guide. This I say because there are serious reservations about impartiality, honesty and fairness of the election commission.Otherwise, forget government of, for and by the people. Sorry for want of space.Thanks.
