HYDERABAD: DIG Crime Branch Farhat Junejo has claimed to have solved the case of neurosurgeon, Dr Aftab Qureshi's kidnapping and murder.

Talking to media persons, Farhat Junejo said 11 people including a woman were involved in the crime, out of which 6 have been arrested. Two staffers from a clinic of Dr Aftab were also among the culprits while two others belonged to an ethnic party, he added.

He said CPLC launched a hasty operation for the recovery of Dr Aftab Qureshi as it also failed to bring the area police into the loop. The bullets sustained by the deceased surgeon could also be a result of a mistake by police, he added.

The DIG Crime Branch further said that the captors had demanded Rs100 million in exchange for the release of Dr Qureshi.

He said Dr Ashok, who was recovered during the police raid in Hyderabad, was in fact a 'double-agent' and was an accomplice of the kidnappers.

Dr Aftab Qureshi, a well-known neurosurgeon, was kidnapped from ransom from Karachi and found murdered in Hyderabad weeks later during a police raid last month.
