Power shortfall jumps to 6,300 MW

LAHORE: The power shortfall has jumped to 6,300 MW compelling National Transmission Dispatch Company (NTDC) to observe 12 to 16-hour loadshedding in urban and rural areas.

 

According to the report on daily power generation and load-management position, the total generation was recorded as 11,480 MW against the 17,780 MW demand during the last 24 hours.

 

The hydel generation stood at 4,500 MW, WAPDA thermal 1,390 MW and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) 5,590 MW.

 

Some 670 MW was supplied to the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), the report added.

 

KAPCO power plant is not generating 876 MW due to fuel shortage while Orient (213 MW) HUBCO (300 MW) Halmore (207 MW) and Saif (210 MW) power plants are also out of system due to shortage of fuel supply.
