'If CJ son does corruption, it’s news'

LAHORE: Former president Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Asma Jehangir Wednesday said a businessman’s corruption would be considered a usual thing but it would be real news if the Chief Justice’s son gets involved in such an act.

 

Talking to media persons here, Asma Jehangir refused to comment on the issue of Dr Arsalan Iftikhar’s case.

 

However, she said Malik Riaz is a businessman and being a businessman he had to commit corruption. “The real question is: Why the son of Chief Justice got involved in corruption?” she added.

 

Asma Jehangir said it makes real news if a son of Chief Justice commits corruption.

Asma Jahangir defends all the thugs - remember Hussain Haqqani ? Where is your Islam now ? Does it not say "you must always side with the truth even if it means a personal loss ". Of course, she belongs to the same group as the Zardaris and Gilanis - birds of a feather flock together ! Shame on you scandalising the judiciary !

Yes, if a lawyer is caught taking huge bribe, his case is referred to the bar rather than framing criminal charges against that black sheep and prosecuting him. We have many filthy criminal holy cows roaring around in our society. It's greatness of CJ that he took immediate notice to bring his son to prosecution after the allegations. That is shining character. But we have dark faced politicians who tried to shield their sons from the legal proceedings.

She already convicted CJ's son Arsalan. Giving carte blanche to Riaz Malick to commit corruption. What an inverted logic !

I can't get some of the folks comments here. I think there is this cynicism in her asking why cry foul when Arsalan's corruption is brought to fore, while corruption (corrupting) of bussinessmen in an acceptable or at least a given thing in the society.

She is defending the corruption of real estate tycoon.I have never seen her single statements against corrupt mafia.whenever she gets a chance she spits her venom against the honourable chief justice.it appears she fights for the rights of those who are thoroughly corrupts.leading lawyers of the country do not support suo moto actions of the supreme court because it deprives them of their hefty fee etc
